Midday update: Fog lifts, scattered inland P.M. showers

The low clouds and fog have burned off in most of Southern New England except for the immediate coast of E MA including Cape Cod and Nantucket. By midday, the temperature was approaching 80° inland, and dew points in the mid 60s made it feel a bit warmer.

Wednesday afternoon will be partly sunny, warm, and muggy for all but the Cape and Nantucket. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s near the coast, and low to mid 80s inland. Showers and thunderstorms may develop inland during the mid to late afternoon through the early evening. The best chance of  showers/storms is in central CT and central/western MA.

Clouds, fog, and mist may return to the coast Wednesday night, with lows in the low 60s. Thursday looks similar with skies becoming partly sunny followed by an interior Southern New England shower threat in the afternoon.

Most of RI may get the best of both worlds - sunshine and no showers in the afternoon
