Record high temperatures unlikely on Wednesday

A brief resurgence of hot and humid weather in Southern New England will likely not be extreme enough to break any record high temperatures. The record high temperatures for September 11 at the four major climatological stations in Southern New England are very high for mid-September.

All of the records occurred during a record warm September in 1983. TF Green Airport hit triple digits with a high of 100°. Boston and Hartford both hit 99°. The record high temperature in Worcester is a much cooler 91°.

A strong southwesterly breeze should have the temperature near 90° in Providence, and in the low to mid 90s in Hartford and Boston. Worcester will reach the upper 80s, and has the best chance of tying or breaking the record.
