Very cold high temperature on Christmas day

It will not be a white Christmas in Southern New England, but the high temperature may be among the ten coldest since 1932 in the Providence area. The temperature at midnight on Christmas Eve will likely be in the low to mid 20s, and it will not rise above the mid 20s before midnight on the 26th. If the high temperature for the day is 25°, then it will be the fifth coldest since 1932. If not, it should be between 6-10 on the list.

The low temperature should be in the mid-teens. Ten times since 1932 the temperature has dropped below 10° in the Providence area.

In any event, it will be the coldest Christmas since at least 2000, which was the last time the high temperature was in the 20s on the Christmas.
