Wind Advisory Tuesday PM

A potent weather system will bring rain and strong southerly winds to Southern New England on Tuesday. The wind may occasionally gust over 40 mph, and the National Weather Service in Taunton, MA has issued a Wind Advisory for Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.

* LOCATION...EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS AND ALL OF RHODE ISLAND. 

* WINDS...SOUTH 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH. SOME GUSTS
AROUND 50 POSSIBLE AT TIMES. STRONGER GUSTS ARE POSSIBLE IN
HEAVY RAIN OR IF ANY THUNDERSTORMS FORM THIS AFTERNOON AND
EVENING.

* TIMING...THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY OVERNIGHT.

* IMPACTS...WINDS OF THIS MAGNITUDE MAY LEAD TO DOWNED TREE
LIMBS...SMALL TREES AND MINOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. THERE IS ALSO
THE POSSIBILITY OF ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE
31 TO 39 MPH OR GUSTS WILL RANGE BETWEEN 46 AND 57 MPH. WINDS
THIS STRONG ARE CAPABLE OF DOWNING SMALL TREE LIMBS AND
BRANCHES...POSSIBLY CAUSING ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES. DRIVING CAN
ALSO BE DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.
