More Clouds, Not Too Warm This Weekend

Friday was fantastic in Southern New England. Unfortunately, there will not be quite as much sunshine over the weekend. Skies should be mainly clear to partly cloudy Friday night. It will be comfortable, with lows in the 50s in the countryside, and low 60s in the cities.

There should be some sunshine Saturday morning, with a trend toward more clouds in the afternoon. It will be a dry and pleasant, but not particularly warm, day with highs in the mid to upper 70s. The wind will be onshore, keeping it a little cooler at the beach. Overall, it will feel more like late summer than the heart of the dog days.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions about the Sunday forecast. A disturbance off the Southeast coast will drift north this weekend, and it’s possible that it may come close enough to bring showers on Sunday. It’s also possible that it will stay far enough offshore that Sunday turns out to be a decent, albeit somewhat cool, day. The current forecast is for mostly cloudy skies with highs only in the low to mid 70s. In a best-case scenario, it will become partly cloudy with highs in the mid to upper 70s. A worst-case scenario is rainy with temperatures only in the 60s. We will keep you updated on this forecast.

It will still be relatively cool early next week before a warming trend in the midweek. Monday looks partly cloudy with highs in the 70s near the coast, and close to 80 inland. Tuesday and Wednesday will be partly sunny with highs well into the 80s inland, and in the upper 70s to low 80s near the coast. If the wind shifts to the west on Wednesday, the high temperature may reach 90 inland. Any warm-up will be relatively short-lived as a cold front brings the possibility of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday.
