Hazy and Humid on Wednesday

The Dog Days of Summer have returned to Southern New England. Dew points are back in the mid to upper 60s, and the high temperature flirted with 90 inland. It was considerably cooler near the coast thanks to a sea breeze. Tuesday night will be muggy and mild with lows in the mid to upper 60s under mainly clear skies. Patchy fog is possible near the coast.

Wednesday will feature hazy sunshine and a gusty southwesterly breeze. Highs will be near 90 inland, and it will be in the low 80s near the coast. The wind will increase to 15-25 mph during the afternoon. A line of showers and thunderstorms will develop over the interior Northeast and move east into New England by mid to late afternoon. The storms will hold off in Rhode Island until after sunset, and possibly until around midnight. The best chance of gusty thunderstorms is in NW RI Wednesday evening.

The threat of showers and thunderstorms continues through Wednesday night until at least midday Thursday as the cold front very slowly moves offshore. It will be mild and humid Wednesday night. Lows will be in the upper 60s to low 70s. Thursday morning looks mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. There is a better chance of dry weather and some sun in the afternoon. Highs will be between 75-80. It will turn much less humid Thursday night as northwest winds usher in drier air. Lows will be near 60 Friday morning.

There will be a nice stretch of weather from Friday through most of the weekend. Friday afternoon will be partly to mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Humidity will be low. It will get a bit muggier this weekend. Saturday looks mostly sunny and seasonably warm. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s. Most of Sunday should be fine, but a line of showers and storms may get close enough late in the day to bring some clouds and possibly rain. It will be an unsettled start to next week with showers likely on Monday.
