Scattered Thunderstorms on Sunday

The second half of the weekend looks rather unsettled in Southern New England. Sunday may start with dry weather in most of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, but clouds will thicken, and showers/thunderstorms will develop around midday. Scattered showers and storms are likely in the afternoon as a disturbance moves from east to west through Southern New England. There is a slight chance of severe thunderstorms that could produce damaging wind and hail. An isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out. It will be a muggy day, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, and partly to mostly cloudy skies when it is not raining.

Monday looks similar, with another round or two of showers and storms possible. Once again, there is a low risk of severe thunderstorms as the vigorous system passes. It will stay humid, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. The shower/storm threat decreases Monday night as the system passes by. It will turn less humid on Tuesday with partly sunny skies. There is a slight chance of a pop-up shower, but, for most, it looks like a dry day. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s.

The weather will be quiet in the mid to late workweek. Highs will be in the low 80s, and lows will be in the upper 50s to low 60s. It will not be humid by late-July standards. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny during the day, and mainly clear at night.
