A Glance at the Week Ahead

August is running a bit cooler than normal in Southern New England, and that trend will continue during the upcoming week. It will be mainly dry with comfortable nights. Skies will clear Sunday night, and the temperature will dip into the mid to upper 50s by dawn on Monday.

Fine weather is likely early in the workweek. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s on Monday with sunny skies in the morning, and a few afternoon clouds. There will be a 10-15 mph northwest breeze. Monday night will be clear and cool. Lows in the countryside will be in the low to mid 50s. It will be in the mid to upper 50s in the cities.

Tuesday looks nice, with plenty of sunshine and highs near 80 inland. It will be in the 70s at the coast. Humidity will stay low. A storm system will pass south of Southern New England in the midweek. Wednesday should be dry and partly sunny. Highs will be near 80 inland, and in the 70s at the coast.

A disturbance may come close enough to trigger a few showers on Thursday. It does not look like a washout, and the best chance of rain is in western New England. Highs will only be in the mid 70s with an east-northeast breeze and increased clouds.

Relatively cool weather will continue into next weekend. High pressure over eastern Canada may keep it dry most of the time, but it will also give a northeast breeze that does not allow the temperature to get out of the mid 70s. Lows will be in the mid to upper 50s.
