Nice, Warmer Weather Through the Midweek

A 10 day stretch of mainly dry weather in Southeastern New England will continue through the middle of the upcoming week. There will be a warming trend early in the week that will have the temperature above normal for a change during an August that is averaging 2-3° below normal through the first three weeks.

Sunday will be partly to mostly sunny with a sea breeze in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s inland, and low to mid 70s near the coast. Sunday night will be clear and comfortably cool. Lows will be in the low to mid 50s in the countryside, and mid to upper 50s in the cities.

Monday will be a gorgeous day, with plenty of sunshine, and highs in the low to mid 80s inland. The coast will be cooled by an afternoon sea breeze. Highs at the beaches will be in the mid to upper 70s. Dew points will climb into the low to mid 60s on Monday, making it feel a bit humid. Monday night will not be as cool as the last few nights, with lows in the low to mid 60s.

Tuesday and Wednesday both look very warm inland, with a cooler breeze near the coast. Skies should be mainly clear, and highs will be in the mid to upper 80s inland, and near 80 at the coast. A 10-15 mph southwest breeze is likely both days. It will be muggy, and overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 60s. Showers or thunderstorms are unlikely until late Wednesday, at the earliest.

There is a better chance for showers and thunderstorms on Thursday as a cold front moves through Southern New England. The timing of the front/showers is questionable, and we will fine tune that during the week. If the front holds off until late in the day, then highs will be in the mid to upper 80s with high humidity. If it comes through early in the day, then highs will be in the low 80s with falling humidity.

The early outlook for the start of Labor Day weekend is for dry and pleasant weather Friday and Saturday. Highs will be in the mid 70s with mainly clear skies.
