Mild, A Few Showers on Wednesday

The mild weather will continue into Wednesday in Southern New England. There may be some patchy fog early in the day, but it will burn off to partly to mostly cloudy skies. The temperature will be in the upper 40s to low 50s at dawn, and highs will be in the low 60s by midday. An approaching cold front may trigger a few rain showers in the afternoon, but it does not look like a widespread soaking rain.

The temperature will fall into the mid to upper 30s with some clearing Wednesday night. Thursday will be partly to mostly sunny, and seasonably cool, with highs near 50. A surge of colder air will arrive Thursday night into Friday. Lows will be in the low to mid 30s Friday morning, and the temperature will struggle to reach the mid 40s on Friday afternoon. It will be a mostly cloudy day, and a few rain and/or snow showers cannot be ruled out – especially near the coast.

Most of the weekend will be dry and cold. Lows will be in the mid to upper 20s Saturday morning, and highs will only be in the upper 30s to low 40s with a fair amount of sunshine in the afternoon. Saturday night looks just as cold as Friday night. If skies are clear and winds are light, the temperature may dip below 20° in the countryside by dawn on Sunday. Clouds will gradually increase on Sunday ahead of an approaching storm system. Highs will be in the low 40s.

The storm’s center will likely pass close enough to Southern New England that most or all the precipitation is rain. It will develop Sunday evening and continue into early Monday. More unseasonably cold weather will follow in the wake of the storm early next week. Highs will be in the 30s to low 40s, and lows will be in the 20s through the middle of the week. It looks like it will be dry from Monday afternoon into Wednesday.
