Not as Cold on Thursday

A wind shift to the southwest will help the temperature get out of the 30s into the 40s on Thursday. It will not be long, however, before very cold air returns to Southern New England. The high on Friday afternoon will be like it was on Wednesday.

A weak disturbance moving through late Wednesday night may trigger a few light showers or flurries late at night. The temperature will be in the low to mid 30s at dawn on Thursday. Skies will be partly cloudy, and a gusty southwest wind will develop during the day. The wind will reach 15-25 mph in the afternoon, with a few gusts over 30 mph possible. Highs will be in the low to mid 30s.

The wind will shift back to the west northwest Thursday night, and the temperature will fall into the mid 20s under starry skies. Friday looks bright, but chilly, with highs in the mid 30s. It will be breezy, with a 15-25 mph west-northwest wind.

The temperature will tumble into the teens to low 20s by early Saturday morning. Saturday should feature abundant sunshine and a lighter breeze, and the high temperature will bounce back to the upper 30s during the afternoon. Warmer weather will arrive on Sunday, but it will be joined by more clouds, and possibly a passing rain shower in the morning. Highs will be near 50 on Sunday afternoon.

It still looks like there will be a rainstorm Sunday night into Monday. The rain is not likely to be as heavy as it was this past Monday, but a threat of showers exists from Sunday night through Monday night. Right now, it looks like the steadiest rain will be Sunday night. Southern New England will be on the mild side of the storm, and highs will be near 60 on Monday. Winds could gust over 30 mph near the coast.

The weather looks quiet on Tuesday. It will become partly to mostly sunny. It will be relatively mild, with highs still near 60. There is a lot of uncertainty with the forecast for next Wednesday. Odds favor dry weather, but a storm that brings cool rain cannot be ruled out.
