Rain Showers Wednesday; Snow Thursday

Snow Tuesday evening will change to sleet, freezing rain, and rain by midnight, but not before 1-3″ of snow accumulates in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Rain showers are in the forecast for late Tuesday night and Wednesday, especially near the coast, as the temperature rises into the mid 30s inland, and upper 30s to low 40s near the coast. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, and the mildest day since mid-January, with scattered rain showers, primarily near the coast. Highs will be in the upper 30s to low 40s.

There will be a break in the snow on Wednesday before more arrives early Thursday

A cold front will move through Wednesday night, and another surge of moisture will stream out of the Mid-Atlantic states bringing snow to Southern New England late at night and into Thursday. The temperature will fall below freezing early Thursday morning, and it will continue falling through the 20s during the day. It looks like there will be 1-3″ of snow in northern RI and interior Southeastern MA, with the potential for 3-6″ from the coast to Providence. Snow will end late in the day Thursday.

It will be a cold and dry end to the workweek. The temperature will fall into the single digits to teens on Friday morning under clearing skies. There will be a decent amount of sunshine on Friday, but highs will struggle to reach 30. The weekend looks quiet and seasonably cool, with highs in the mid to upper 30s and partly cloudy skies. Lows will be in the teens Saturday morning, and 20s on Sunday.
