Bright Sunday; Rainy Monday

Sunday looks just as bright as Saturday, but it will not be nearly as warm. The temperature will dip to near 40 by early Sunday morning under mainly clear skies. Sunday afternoon looks mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 50s. It will be cooler on Cape Cod and the E MA coast because of a northeast breeze.

Clouds will increase Sunday night ahead of a rainstorm that will lead to a soggy Monday into Monday night in Southeastern New England. Lows will be near 40 on Monday morning. Rain will develop during the morning, and it could be heavy at times by late in the day and at night. The wind will increase out of the east-southeast to 15-30 mph, with the highest gusts near the coast. The temperature will struggle to get out of the 40s on Monday.

Rain continues Monday night before winding down early Tuesday. Storm rain totals will be around an inch in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. A spotty shower is possible on Tuesday, but most of the day will be dry. It will be much milder, with highs in the low 60s. Wednesday looks seasonable, and most likely dry. Highs will be near 60 with a blend of clouds and sun.

Cooler weather arrives late in the workweek. Afternoon temperatures in the 50s are likely Thursday and Friday. With cool air aloft, a pop-up afternoon shower cannot be ruled out. Lows will be in the upper 30s to low 40s.
