More Clouds, Muggy on Tuesday

Monday was a great beach day in Southeastern New England. Unfortunately, clouds could be an issue at area beaches on Tuesday. A warm front will move through New England on Tuesday, and a cold front follows Wednesday with a shower/storm threat.

MONDAY NIGHT
It will be mostly cloudy, muggy, and mild Monday night. Lows will be in the mid to upper 60s with patchy fog near the coast.

TUESDAY
Clouds will be stubborn on Tuesday as a warm front slowly pushes through New England. After a mild start, the temperature will gradually climb through the 70s into the upper 70s to low 80s by mid-afternoon. The dew point will climb into the upper 60s to low 70s, making it feel warmer. Skies will be mostly cloudy, and a few showers cannot be ruled out. If there are breaks in the cloud cover during the afternoon, they will likely fill in at night, and the temperature will hover in the upper 60s to low 70s as it stays very humid into Wednesday. There will be a southerly breeze.

WEDNESDAY
An approaching cold front will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday. The best chance of rain is in the afternoon. After a mostly cloudy start, it will become partly sunny, very warm, and humid. With enough sunshine, the high inland will reach 90°. It will be in the low 80s near the coast. The wind will be out of the southwest to west-southwest between 10-15 mph. Torrential downpours are possible in any thunderstorms given the amount of moisture in the air. The shower/storm threat diminishes late Wednesday night.

LATE-WEEK
Thursday looks like a close call between a gorgeous day and one that is so-so. A weak disturbance passing south of Southern New England could throw clouds and a few showers our way. If it stays far enough south, we’ll have sunshine, lower humidity, and highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. We’ll keep you updated. Right now, Friday and Saturday look mostly sunny and seasonable. Most of Sunday looks good, too, with the chance of showers late in the day or at night.
