While most in Southeastern New England have had their power restored following Hurricane Sandy, the situation in the Mid-Atlantic states is a lot different. Millions are without power, and many along the New Jersey coast have lost a lot more than just their electricity for a while. The devastation along the Jersey shore is astounding, and a reminder of how fortunate some communities in RI and SE MA were to escape the full brunt of this storm. Look at this before/after image from Seaside Heights, NJ where the pier, amusement park, and many structures near the coast were heavily damaged.
