The nasty Nor’easter is delivering on its promise of wind, rain, and snow in the Mid-Atlantic and New England. Snow has been falling since mid-morning in Connecticut, and many places have already picked up 3-4″. In RI and SE MA, it’s been a wintry mix of snow, rain, and sleet. As the afternoon wears on, many are seeing a changeover to all snow that is starting to stick to the west of Interstate 95.
The wind has been gusting to 50+ mph for eight straight hours on Nantucket, and the Cape/Islands have seen gusts near 60 mph. The howling wind will continue through this evening.

Here are some highlights of what’s ahead for tonight and tomorrow.
- A change to a wintry mix or snow for most of RI and MA from the I-95 corridor west is likely by early this evening.
- The temperature will drop below freezing in NW RI, NE CT, and Worcester County, so some icy roadways are likely.
- The temperature should stay at or above freezing in Providence, and accumulating snow on the main roads and highways is less likely.
- It will probably stay as a chilly rain from Narragansett east to the Buzzards Bay and Cape.
- Late this evening, some milder air will move in at about 7,000 feet above the surface. This should help to change any snow to mixed precipitation or rain.
- The temperature will stay at or below freezing through the night in NW RI. Untreated roads may stay slick.
- The storm’s impact tomorrow will be less severe. It will be a showery, cool, and breezy to windy day. Highs will struggle to reach 40 in NW RI, and will be in the 40s elsewhere.
