T-storms, 60s on bizarre December day

A warm front draped over Southern New England is leading to showers and thunderstorms that will bring locally heavy downpours to RI, CT, and SE MA through the afternoon. Some minor street flooding is possible during the heaviest showers. Most of Southern New England is on the mild side of the front, and temperatures have jumped into the upper 50s to low 60s. The thunderstorm and heavy shower threat should diminish by late in the day, and this evening will stay damp and mild with scattered showers and drizzle/mist. There may also be some patchy dense fog, especially near the coast.

Any showers should end by early Tuesday morning, and the afternoon will be closer to a typical mid-December day with temperatures in the mid 40s. A storm will move out to sea south of Southern New England Wednesday into Thursday. Dry, seasonable weather is likely through the end of the workweek. We are still eyeing the potential for some wet or wintry weather Sunday.
