Patriots players and fans have had to contend with some very chilly conditions at home playoff games in the past decades. Since 2002, nearly every January game at Gillette Stadium has featured a game-time temperature below 40°, with most games played in sub-freezing weather. The weather has been mainly dry for the most recent playoff games, but some of the most memorable games during this run have been played in the snow.
The forecast for Sunday’s Divisional game vs. Houston is for a temperature in the 50s at kickoff. It will be a treat for the tailgaters who won’t be braving the usual bitter conditions that go hand and hand with New England playoff football. The last time it was near 50° for a Patriots playoff game was in 2007 when the Patriots pulled away from the Jets in the fourth quarter of a Divisional Round matchup.
