Two cold front bring the threat of showers/storms to Southern New England this weekend

Showers and thunderstorms will continue Saturday night as a cold front eases through Southern New England. The front will slow down as it moves through early Sunday, and some lingering showers are possible – especially near the coast of RI and in SE MA. The sky will get brighter by late Sunday afternoon. Look for high temperatures in the mid 60s to 70 degrees. Much cooler air will move in on a northwesterly breeze Sunday night into the early part of next week.

Did you know that there was a confirmed tornado in Southern New England during Thursday afternoon’s thunderstorms? The NWS confirmed an EF0 tornado in Stoughton, MA – click here for more info.

The temperature will drop into the 40s by dawn Monday. It will be partly sunny, brisk and somewhat cool for mid-May with highs only near 60 on Monday afternoon. The temperature will drop into the 30s to low 40s Monday night into Tuesday morning. Tuesday will be partly to mostly cloudy and cool, with highs close to 60. A few showers are possible in the mid to late workweek as a frontal system moves into the Northeast. Right now, it does not look like any day will be a washout.
