Yet another soaking rain storm is heading for Southern New England. An anomalously strong storm for mid-June will move from the Ohio Valley to Southern New England on Thursday into Friday. The storm has the potential to produce very heavy rain in Southern New England and New York, and severe weather farther south through the Mid-Atlantic. So far this month, the Providence area has already received more than 7 inches of rain, making it the fourth wettest June on record. Area rivers and streams are flooding or running very high, and the additional rain will exacerbate poor drainage, stream, and river flooding in the next few days. The Flood Watch is in effect for all of Southern New England except Cape Cod and the islands. The potential exsits for widespread 2-4″ rain totals. See below from the National Weather Service.
