Locally heavy showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday pushed the June rainfall totals higher up the charts in Southern New England. The four major climatological stations (Boston, Hartford, Providence, and Worcester) are now all in the top-four wettest months of June on record. The four stations, along with most of the rest of Southern New England, have received about 9″ of rain in less than three weeks.
There is not much rain in the forecast for the next several days, but there is still plenty of time left in the month for at least three of the stations to climb into the top-two wettest Junes. The all-time wettest month of June was in 1982 when the four stations received between 11.08″ and 13.6″ of rain. It would take another soaking rain storm to threaten those totals.
