A weakened Tropical Storm Dorian continues moving quickly across the Atlantic Ocean. As of 2 pm, Saturday, the storm had minimal tropical storm force winds of 40 mph. Dorian looks disorganized, and is not expected to strengthen significantly. Most computer models have the storm degenerating into a tropical wave or maintaining weak tropical storm status in the next few days as it scoots through the Caribbean. Dorian is not expected to have an impact in Puerto Rico or Hispaniola, but may bring rain and gusty wind to the Bahamas and Cuba. The long range forecast has the storm moving into the Gulf of Mexico by early August. It’s quite possible the storm will have little punch left at that point.
