SPC: 5% chance of severe weather in SNE Friday

A trough of low pressure will move through the Northeast United States on Friday bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms. Because of the dynamics of the system, some of the thunderstorms could become severe. The NOAA Storm Prediction Center has put the Megalopolis from Washington D.C. to Boston in a 5% risk of severe weather between 8 am Friday and 8 am Saturday. While not a high risk of severe weather, it indicates the potential for some of the storms to become severe and produce heavy rain and damaging wind gusts. There will be an updated outlook from the Storm Prediction Center early Friday morning.
