Clear skies, no wind, and dry air made for a very cool start in Southeastern Massachusetts on Sunday. The temperature dropped into the low to mid 40s from Norwood to New Bedford to Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod by dawn Sunday. The sky stayed clear during the day Sunday, and the August sunshine helped the temperature to rebound by 35-40° in some locations.
The high temperature reached the low 80s in many places that were in the 40s at dawn. Taunton, MA went from a morning low of 44° to a mid-afternoon temperature of 83° with low humidity and a light breeze. The 39° jump in Taunton was the largest temperature gap between the low and the high since May 2 when the temperature rose from 36° to 77°.
It will cool into the 50s under clear skies Sunday evening, but the temperature should level off in the low to mid 50s as clouds stream in late at night.
