Super Typhoon Usagi to hit Taiwan and China

For the most part the Atlantic hurricane season remains relatively quiet. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world there is a super typhoon (category 5 hurricane) heading for southern Taiwan, the norther Philippines, and southeast China. Super Typhoon Usagi has maximum sustained winds of 160 mph, with gusts to 190 mph. The storm is the first category 5 storm of 2013. It is expected to weaken slightly when passing through the norther Philippines and southern Taiwan on Saturday, but may still be a strong category two hurricane with winds near 100 mph when it approaches Hong Kong late in the weekend.
