If you’re looking for at least one more 90° day before the summer ends, then you could be in luck on Wednesday. An unusually hot late-season day is likely in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Depending on the wind direction Wednesday afternoon, a good chunk of Southern New England could see the temperature soar into the 90s.
The highest likelihood of seeing 90°+ heat is away from the coast due to a west-southwesterly breeze. The wind direction will be a critical factor for Providence. If it is more west than south, then the high will be in the 90s in Providence, too. The dew point will be in the upper 60s to low 70s making it feel even warmer. The coast of RI, Buzzards Bay, and Cape Cod will see highs in the low to mid 80s.
Wednesday night into Thursday will also feature mid-summer warmth and humidity. The temperature may not dip below 70° in the cities Wednesday night, and Thursday will be back into the 80s before thunderstorms threaten in the afternoon.
