NWS expands Wind Advisory in SNE Monday PM

Strong, gusty winds are likely in Southern New England ahead of an approaching cold front Monday afternoon and evening. Sustained winds will be 15-25 mph, but it’s the potential for gusts up to 45 mph that could cause scattered damage due to down trees, branches and power lines. The wind will be out of the south.

ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM
EDT THIS EVENING.

* WINDS...SOUTH 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH.

* LOCATION...MOST OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND EXCEPT FOR THE SOUTH
  COAST.

* TIMING...STRONGEST WINDS DURING THE MID TO LATE AFTERNOON
  PERIOD. SOME STRONGER GUSTS ARE POSSIBLE WITH A COLD FRONT
  DURING THE EARLY EVENING HOURS.

* IMPACTS...WINDS OF THIS MAGNITUDE MAY DOWN BRANCHES OR SMALL 
  TREES. SOME POWER OUTAGES ARE POSSIBLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS ARE FORECAST TO BE
31 TO 39 MPH OR GUSTS WILL RANGE BETWEEN 46 AND 57 MPH. WINDS
THIS STRONG ARE CAPABLE OF DOWNING SMALL TREE LIMBS AND
BRANCHES...POSSIBLY CAUSING ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES.  DRIVING CAN
ALSO BE DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.
