Long Range Forecast – December 26

Sunday will likely be a missed opportunity for snow in Southeastern New England. A storm passing south of Southern New England in late-December will bring rain instead of snow to RI, CT, and SE MA. There is the potential for significant snow north of the MA Pike and in Northern New England, but, even that is not a lock. It will turn considerably colder after the storm. The outlook for the New Year’s Eve and Day festivities is for very cold weather. Highs in the 20s, lows in the teens.

It still looks like there will be a very cold weather pattern in the Northeast for the first week to ten days of 2014. It is much less certain, however, that there will be significant snow during the cold outbreak. There are signs that it will be a cold month of January, and, if so, the odds favor more than the normal amount of snow.
