A very active weather pattern is ahead for this week in Southern New England. The first system coming through on Monday will bring light snow during the day. It does not look like a major storm, and the best chance of 2-3″ of snow is right along the coast and on the islands.
Snow will develop after 7 am in Southern New England. It may hold off until after the morning commute. The steadiest light snow is likely between 9 am and 3 pm. It will taper to flurries late in the day before ending in the early evening. Highs will be in the low 30s, with the temperature falling into the upper 20s during the steadiest snow. There will be a 5-15 mph north-northeast wind that shifts to the northwest late in the day.
Skies will clear Monday night as the storm slides into the Atlantic Ocean. The temperature will drop into the low to mid 20s by dawn Tuesday. There will be a break in the action during the day Tuesday as the next storm system loads up over the Southeastern United States. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s under mostly sunny skies.
Clouds will thicken Tuesday night, and snow is likely after midnight. The snow may change to sleet and rain near the coast by dawn on Wednesday. Several inches of snow is possible before a change to sleet or rain. The commute looks messy Wednesday morning. Snow, sleet or rain will continue through Wednesday morning before ending late in the day. Highs will be in the 30s on Wednesday.
Cold, dry weather arrives for the end of the workweek. Highs will be in the 20s to low 30s Thursday and Friday. Looking ahead to next weekend, another storm may bring more wintry weather to the Northeast.
