NWS Issues Flood Watch Through Thursday Afternoon

A slow-moving weather system will bring at least an inch of rain to most of Southern New England Wednesday night into Thursday. There is the potential for isolated 2-3″ amounts, and the National Weather Service in Taunton, MA has issued an Areal Flood Advisory for CT, RI, and Bristol/Plymouth Counties in MA. The National Weather Service calls it a moderate probability of street and stream flooding.

A Flood Watch is in effect for most of Southern New England through Thursday

  PLYMOUTH...BRISTOL AND SOUTHERN WORCESTER. IN RHODE
  ISLAND...BRISTOL AND NEWPORT.

* THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON

* A SLOW MOVING FRONTAL SYSTEM WILL BRING 1.5 TO 2.5 INCHES OF
  TOTAL RAINFALL TO PORTIONS OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND. LOCALLY
  HIGHER AMOUNTS UP TO 3 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE.

* THERE IS A MODERATE PROBABILITY THIS RAINFALL COULD LEAD TO
  AREAS OF URBAN AND POOR DRAINAGE FLOODING. SMALL STREAM
  FLOODING IS ALSO POSSIBLE.
