Thursday was one of the cooler days of the month with highs only in the 50s to low 60s in coastal Southern New England. It was in the low to mid 60s inland, still a bit cool for late-May. Showers rolled through in the afternoon, and the threat of rain will continue into the Memorial Day weekend.
Friday will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers, and the slight chance of a thunderstorm. Highs will be in the upper 50s to low 60s. It will stay damp Friday night into early Saturday. Lows will be in the upper 40s to low 50s. After a cloudy start, it may become partly sunny Saturday afternoon. Once again, pop-up showers and thunderstorms are possible – especially inland. Highs will be in the 60s.
The disturbance will still be overhead on Sunday, and scattered showers still cannot be ruled out. It should be a few degrees warmer, with highs reaching 70 inland if there’s a few hours of sunshine. The disturbance, which is a warm front, will move offshore by midday Monday, and the afternoon looks nice, and relatively warm, in Southern New England. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s inland, and near 70 at the coast with a west-southwest breeze. Showers are possible in Northern New England on Monday.
Another disturbance will pass by on Tuesday bringing the chance of showers back to Southern New England. That system should be progressive, and the shower threat will likely not last all day. The middle of next week looks dry and seasonably mild, with highs in the low to mid 70s inland, and upper 60s to low 70s near the coast.
