The Jamestown Half Marathon, to be held on Saturday July 12, 2014, is set on picturesque Conanicut Island and looks out over Narragansett Bay and the Newport Pell Bridge, the largest suspension bridge in New England. The course will lead runners around the island and historic Jamestown, finishing against the backdrop of the Pell Bridge and Narragansett Bay.
The race begins early in the day at 630 am, and the weather looks great for running. Saturday will eventually turn into a mostly sunny day, but it may begin with patchy mist and fog near the bay. It will be about as cool as it gets at this time of the year on Jamestown, which is surrounded by water that is in the low 70s. The temperature will be in the low to mid 60s before 7 am, and gradually climbing through the 70s during the morning. It will not be nearly as muggy as some of the weather that we have trained in for the past few weeks. By the way, the moon will be full at 7:25 am on Saturday. It’s also a “supermoon” because the moon is near its closest point to Earth. It will appear larger than a “normal” full moon.
