Clouds will melt away Monday evening, and patchy fog may develop with muggy conditions overnight. Lows will be in the mid 60s. Any patchy fog or low clouds will burn off by mid-morning Tuesday, and highs will be in the low to mid 80s inland, and upper 70s near the coast under partly to mostly sunny skies. There is a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm away from the coast. Dew points will be in the mid 60s, so it will feel like early August.
Hurricane Bertha will pass about 300 miles east of Nantucket Tuesday night into Wednesday. It will increase surf at area beaches, but not have any other impact in Southern New England. Tuesday night looks mainly clear to partly cloudy and mild. Lows will be 65-70.
A cold front moving in from the west will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms on Wednesday. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s, and it will be muggy. The best chance of rain is in the afternoon and away from the coast, but showers cannot be ruled out at the beaches, either.
Relatively cool air aloft will move into New England late in the workweek. It may be enough to destabilize the atmosphere and lead to pop-up afternoon showers on Thursday and Friday. For the most part, the weather looks dry and less humid. Highs will be near 80, and lows will be in the low 60s.
The early outlook for the weekend is for great weather. Saturday and Sunday both look mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 80s inland, and upper 70s near the coast. Lows will be in the low 60s without much humidity.
