It will stay mild on Sunday in Southeastern New England, but, unlike the past couple of days, there will not be much sun, and there will be scattered showers during the day. The best chance of showers in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts is from late in the morning through middle of the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 40s.
Colder weather will arrive early next week, and it will be a dry and chilly New Year in Southeastern New England. Clouds will move offshore early Monday, and the afternoon will be partly cloudy with highs in the low 40s. A northwest breeze will bring in colder weather for the midweek. The low temperature will be in the 20s on Tuesday morning, and highs will only be in the low to mid 30s with a blend of clouds and sun.
New Year’s Eve will be cold and dry. The low temperature Wednesday morning will be in the low 20s, and it will only reach the low to mid 30s in the afternoon. The temperature will fall to around 25° by midnight on New Year’s Eve. It will be similarly cold in Boston and New York. New Year’s Day will be chilly, with some sunshine and highs in the mid 30s. The ocean temperature is in the low 40s which will give those taking the plunge quite a chill!
It will stay dry through Friday before a storm arrives in the Northeast next weekend. The early outlook is for a mainly or all rain storm in Southeastern New England.
