Clouds will increase early Wednesday as a storm system develops offshore. The storm should not come close enough to bring widespread snow to Southeastern New England, but a few snow showers or flurries are possible in Eastern Massachusetts. It will not be as cold as Tuesday, with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s under mostly cloudy skies. There will be a 5-10 mph northeast breeze.
It will be dry and seasonably cool Thursday and Friday. There should be plenty of sunshine on Thursday, with highs in the low to mid 30s. Friday looks partly cloudy with highs in the mid to upper 30s before a cold front moves through and brings back very cold weather to start the weekend.
The temperature will be in the teens on Saturday morning, and it will rebound to the upper 20s in the afternoon. It may get warmer Sunday as the wind shifts to the southwest and a storm develops along an offshore front. It’s a complex forecast, but, right now, it looks like the temperature will make it into the 40s with rain developing in the afternoon and continuing into the night. Colder, dry weather will return as the storm moves away on Monday.
That is the story of this winter so far, and we’ll be watching this forecast closely to see if this pattern continues or if the storm will be a bit farther offshore bringing in colder weather, and possibly snow. At this point, that is not the likely scenario.
