Sunny Friday; Rain and Snow Saturday

Friday will be mostly sunny and seasonable. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s with a light westerly breeze. Clouds will increase Friday night as a storm develops over the Southeastern United States and moves northeast into the Atlantic Ocean. The temperature will fall into the upper 20s to low 30s overnight.

A storm developing over the Southeast will take aim at Southern New England on Saturday

The storm will pass east of Nantucket during the day on Saturday. Snow or mixed precipitation will start by mid-morning and it will most likely change to rain or a mix of rain and snow in most of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. It is possible that the precipitation will stay as snow north and west of I-95 depending on the track of the storm. The precipitation will continue through the afternoon into the evening. As the storm moves away Saturday evening, there may be a change back to snow in all of Southeastern New England. Right now, it does not look like there will be more than a couple of inches of snow from the coast to the Providence area. There is a better chance of 6″ or more of snow in the higher terrain of northwest Rhode Island and Worcester county. There is a good chance of mainly rain on Cape Cod. Highs will be in the low to mid 30s.

Expected precipitation type on Saturday

The storm will end by around midnight, and skies will clear late at night. Lows will be in the low to mid 20s. Wet roads could become slick overnight. Sunday looks mostly sunny with highs in the mid 30s.

Another storm will make a run at Southern New England early next week. Snow is possible Monday afternoon and night. If the storm tracks close enough, several inches of snow may accumulate. Highs will be in the 20s on Monday. The weather looks dry and cold in the middle of next week. Lows will be in the single digits and teens, highs will be in the teens to 20s.
