The storm that brought snow and rain Saturday night will end as a burst of snow Sunday morning. An inch of snow is possible after the precipitation changes back to snow from west to east early in the day. The snow should end by noon, and it will be cloudy and cool in the afternoon, with highs in the mid 30s. The temperature will fall below freezing by late in the evening, and it will tumble into the teens to near 20 by dawn on Monday with clearing skies.
The upcoming week looks mainly dry and cold. The temperature will hover in the teens on Monday under mostly sunny skies. It will be clear and frigid Monday night, with lows near zero again. Tuesday will not be as cold as Monday, but it will still be very cold for late February. Highs will be in the 20s.
An approaching cold front will shift the wind to the southwest on Wednesday, and the temperature may make it to freezing. At the same time, there is a chance of snow showers as that front passes and reintroduces cold weather for the end of the workweek. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday all look dry and unseasonably cold – a fitting end to the second coldest month on record. Highs will be in the low to mid 20s, and lows will be in the single digits. A storm is possible late next weekend, but it’s too early to speculate on whether it would be mainly rain or snow.
