Sunshine Returns This Weekend

If you feel like it has been a dreary start to April in Southern New England, you are absolutely right. 8 of the first 10 days of the month have had at least a trace of precipitation, and the temperature is running 3° below normal one-third of the way through the month. Fortunately, there are brighter days ahead, starting on Saturday.

Saturday will be much brighter than the past few days

It will be partly to mostly sunny and breezy during the day. Highs will be in the mid to upper 50s – just about normal for mid-April. The west wind will gust to 25 mph at times. The wind will diminish under clear skies Saturday night. The temperature will fall into the mid to upper 30s by dawn on Sunday.

Sunday will be an even nicer day, with less wind, plenty of sunshine, and highs near 60. The best chance of busting into the low 60s is inland. An afternoon sea breeze will keep it cooler at the coast.

Mild and dry weather will continue on Monday. Highs will be in the low 60s inland, and 50s near the coast with a gusty south-southwest breeze. Clouds will increase late in the day. A cold front will move through New England on Tuesday. There will likely be a 4-6 hour window for rain, so we are not looking at a total washout. The timing looks like mid to late morning. Highs will be in the 50s on Tuesday with mostly cloudy skies.

Wednesday and Thursday should be dry. It will be milder on Wednesday. Highs inland could reach the mid 60s. It will be in the mid to upper 50s near the coast. A southeast wind will develop on Thursday. That is a rather cool wind direction at this time of the year. Highs will be in the low to mid 50s, even with a decent amount of sunshine. The early outlook for Friday into next weekend is for possible rain as a storm moves through the Eastern United States.
