Dry Saturday; Rain Likely on Father’s Day

If Dad has outdoor plans, he’s not going to be too pleased with the Sunday weather forecast. After a dry start to the weekend, rain is likely on Sunday, and former Tropical Storm Bill is to blame. It may not be an all-day washout, but periods of rain are likely, and there could be some heavy downpours.

The weekend will begin with mainly clear skies Saturday morning. It will be comfortable, with temperatures in the upper 50s to low 60s early in the day. Afternoon highs in the low to mid 70s are likely as clouds roll in late in the day.

A few showers are possible Saturday night. The bulk of the rain, however, will hold off until Sunday. It will be mild and humid Saturday night, with patchy fog possible near the coast. Lows will be in the 60s.

Part of Father’s Day will be soggy in Southeastern New England

What remains of Tropical Storm Bill will have plenty of tropical moisture, and not much wind left as it moves through on Sunday. Showers will develop during the day, and the best chance of heavy rain is from late in the morning through mid-afternoon. Torrential downpours could be enough to slow traffic. Highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s on Sunday.

The rain threat diminishes Sunday evening, and warmer, brighter weather is ahead for Monday. Look for highs in the 80s inland, and 70s near the coast on Monday afternoon. Another disturbance will threaten with a few showers on Tuesday.
