Parts of Southeastern New England were drenched by 2-5″ of rain as big thunderstorms erupted in unstable air on Monday. The thunderstorm threat diminishes Monday night before returning Tuesday as a disturbance moves through.
TUESDAY
Look for low clouds and patchy fog to start the day. It will be near 70 early in the day with high humidity. Skies will become partly cloudy, and thunderstorms may develop from midday through the afternoon. They’ll likely be scattered, so not everyone will get hit. The air will stay very humid, and locally heavy downpours are possible. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s inland, and low 80s near the coast. The storm threat diminishes Tuesday night. It will be warm and humid, with lows in the 70s.
WEDNESDAY
Any low clouds and fog will burn off to hazy sunshine on Wednesday. The temperature will soar into the low to mid 90s inland, and it will feel 5-10° hotter because of the humidity. A southwest breeze will keep it in the 80s at the beach. We are not expecting thunderstorms to develop on Wednesday. It will stay warm Wednesday night.
THURSDAY
It looks like another hazy, hot, and humid day. Highs will be in the 90s again inland, and the humidity will make it feel like low 100s in some spots. A steady southwest breeze will make it 10-15° cooler at the coast. An approaching cold front will trigger thunderstorms sometime between Thursday afternoon and pre-dawn Friday. The front will bring lower humidity for Friday.
FRIDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND
It will not be as humid on Friday, but the temperature may still reach 90°. A west to northwest wind means it will be very warm to hot at the beaches, too. Skies will be mostly sunny. The weekend looks hot and increasingly humid. Highs inland will likely reach the 90s both days. It will be a bit cooler at the coast with a west-southwest breeze. You can expect mostly sunny days, and mainly clear nights, with some patchy fog possible. Lows will be near 70.
