Hot Weather Continues Into Midweek

A gorgeous Labor Day weekend wrapped up with hot and humid weather on Monday. The heat is sticking around through the midweek before showers and thunderstorms threaten late in the workweek.

TUESDAY
It will be a warm and muggy start to the day with lows near 70 in many spots. The countryside and coast may sneak down into the mid 60s. Look for mostly sunny skies throughout the day. Highs will be in the low 90s inland. A 10-25 mph southwest breeze will keep the coast in the low 80s. That wind direction will keep it humid and feeling like mid-summer. Tuesday night looks mainly clear with patchy fog. It will be muggy and mild, with lows ranging from the mid to upper 60s.

Hot weather stays around on Tuesday

WEDNESDAY
It will be another very warm day in Southeastern New England. Highs inland will be in the mid to upper 80s. It will be in the low 80s near the coast as the south to southwest breeze stays active. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny. Wednesday night will be damp and mild with patchy fog and mist. Lows will be in the mid to upper 60s.

THURSDAY
An approaching cold front will threaten the area with showers and thunderstorms on Thursday. While showers/storms cannot be ruled out in the morning, the best chance of rain is in the afternoon and evening – especially inland. It will be warm and humid, with highs in the 80s. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy if it’s not raining. A wave of low pressure will form on the front, and steadier rain is possible Thursday night. Some heavy downpours are possible, and it would be welcome rain because of the recent dry stretch. Lows will be in the 60s.

FRIDAY
Showers are possible Friday morning as the storm departs. There is a better chance of dry weather in the afternoon. It may become partly sunny by late in the day. Highs will be in the 70s, with lower humidity Friday evening and night. Lows Friday night will be in the 50s to low 60s under mainly clear skies.

NEXT WEEKEND
The early outlook for next weekend is for mainly dry weather on Saturday, and the chance of showers on Sunday. Highs will be in the 70s both days, but a bit warmer on Saturday. Right now, Sunday does not look like a washout.
