Windy Rain Storm Wednesday Night

A powerful storm with gusty winds and heavy downpours will roll through New England Wednesday night. Dry and relatively warm weather arrives on Thursday.

WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON
Howling winds will gust to 40 mph out of the east-southeast. The strongest gusts will be near the coast. There will be scattered showers, but the steadiest rain will hold off until around sunset. Temperatures will climb into the upper 50s to low 60s.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Wind-driven heavy showers are likely Wednesday night. Peak gusts over 40 mph may down some tree limbs. 1-2″ of rain is possible, and a late-night thunderstorm cannot be ruled out. The threat of heavy rain continues until 7-8 am Thursday morning. The early part of the morning commute will likely be slowed by heavy showers. The temperature will hold steady or climb into the mid 60s.

THURSDAY
Rain will end by 9-10 am from west to east, and it will be a mostly cloudy and relatively warm day. Highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s. A spotty late-day shower is possible.

FRIDAY
Expect partly sunny, breezy, and seasonably cool conditions on Friday. Highs will be in the mid to upper 50s with a 10-15 mph northwest wind. Lows will be near 50.

WEEKEND
Halloween looks nice.Lows will be in the mid to upper 30s early in the day. It will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid 50s. Trick or treat weather will be mainly clear with the temperature settling back into the 40s by 9 pm. Sunday is shaping up to be a decent day with highs in the mid to upper 50s under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Don’t forget to set your clocks back Saturday night as Daylight Saving Time ends. Sunset on Sunday will be around 4:45 pm.
