December is running more than 10° warmer than normal in the Providence area. 11 of the first 18 days have been at least 10° warmer than normal. The only day below normal this month was December 1. While it will be colder this weekend, both days will most likely be slightly above normal because the normal low temperature is 25°, and it will most likely be in the low 30s Saturday, and upper 20s on Sunday. Highs will be close to 40°, which is just about normal for this time of the year.
Another warm-up is ahead for next week. The temperature will likely reach the 50s for several straight days beginning on Monday. After a dry start to the week, showers are possible Tuesday and Wednesday. The timing of the rain is uncertain now, but some showers are likely both days.
The temperature will warm into the upper 50s to low 60s on Thursday under partly cloudy skies. It looks warm for Santa Christmas Eve! A slight cool-down is ahead for Christmas, but it will still be warmer than normal. Some rain is possible late next weekend.
The pattern through New Year’s looks relatively warm most of the time. There are signs that the pattern will turn colder in early to mid January, but there is no accumulating snow in the forecast through the New Year.
