February will get off to an unseasonably warm start before cooler weather arrives late in the workweek. A rainstorm is likely in the midweek, and there is an outside chance of some late-week snow.
MONDAY
The warm weather continues on Monday with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s. It may even reach the low 60s inland. A wind slightly off the water near the coast will keep temperatures in the low to mid 50s within a few miles of the ocean or bay. There is a slight chance of a passing shower Monday night. It will turn a bit cooler late at night, with lows near 30.
TUESDAY
A northeast breeze will make it cooler on Tuesday, but it will not be cold by early February standards. Look for highs in the low 40s with plenty of sunshine.
WEDNESDAY
The wind will swing back to the south on Wednesday. Highs will be in the 50s again, but the tradeoff will be a rainy, windy day. Rain should develop by midday, and it may be heavy at times in the afternoon and early evening before ending. The wind will likely gust over 30 mph near the coast.
THURSDAY
It will be dry and cooler than Wednesday, but, once again, it will not be cold. Highs may even reach 50 in a few spots. Most of the day will be in the 40s with partly cloudy skies.
FRIDAY
A storm system developing offshore may come close enough to clip Southeastern New England with snow and wind. At this point, the odds favor it missing New England to the east, but it’s still early. It will be colder, with highs in the 30s on Friday regardless of whether snow makes it inland from the Atlantic Ocean.
WEEKEND
The weather pattern looks colder in mid-February. Saturday will be partly cloudy and seasonable, with highs in the mid 30s to low 40s. Computer models were predicting some snow on Sunday night into Monday for a few runs, but they have since backed off that forecast. Right now, it looks mainly dry with highs in the 30s.
