A beautiful Father’s Day weekend will be followed by hot weather early next week. Look for a lot of sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures this weekend. Highs will range from the upper 70s at the coast to mid 80s inland on Saturday. It will be a bit warmer on Sunday with highs in the mid to upper 80s inland and close to 80 at the beach. It gets a little muggier by the end of the weekend.
Monday looks hot and humid. The temperature will soar into the 90s inland and stay in the 80s at the coast. It may feel like 100°+ for some time in the afternoon inland as the heat combines with high humidity. Monday night will be warm and uncomfortable. Lows may not get below 70.
After a very warm Tuesday well into the 80s and possibly some low 90s inland, it will turn cooler in the midweek with some showers possible. The outlook for late next week is for seasonable warmth as summer begins Thursday morning.
It’s worth keeping an eye on the rainfall over the next few weeks. It has been dry lately, and the European model weeklies are showing below normal precipitation in the next 4-5 weeks. If that pans out, do not be surprised if part of Southern New England slips into a short-term drought.
