Cold rain moves out of Southern New England early Thursday, but clouds will linger. Expect temperatures to climb from the mid 30s to the low 40s by midday. The temperature holds steady Thursday night with mist, fog, and showers moving through. A few more showers are likely Friday morning before winding down in the afternoon. The temperature may climb to near 50 on Friday before a cold front sweeps through and brings much colder weather for the weekend.
Dry weather is ahead for Saturday and Sunday. It will be seasonably cold with highs in the low 30s Saturday and mid 30s on Sunday. Lows will be in the teens to low 20s Saturday night. A few snow showers or flurries cannot be ruled out Sunday night. Right now, it does not look like a big deal. The next best chance of accumulating snow is in the middle of next week, but the early outlook for the storm’s track is close enough to the coast to bring both snow and rain to Connecticut, Rhode Island, and eastern Massachusetts. As I’ve said before the odds of snow/mix events increase considerably in mid to late February. So, even if the storm in the middle of next week is more rain than snow, there will most likely be another shot or two at snow before February 25.
