The weekend begins with showers Friday night into Saturday morning. The rain may be heavy at times between 3 a.m. 9 a.m. from west to east across Southern New England. Showers could linger near the coast in the morning.
0.5-1″ of rain is possible, with the best chance of close to an inch in Connecticut. Soggy baseball and soccer fields are likely this weekend. It will get quite nice during the afternoon on Saturday with increasing sunshine and the temperature soaring into the 60s to near 70. Expect it to stay in the 50s to near 60 at the coast.
Sunday starts out decent with temps climbing out of the 40s and through the 50s during the morning. Clouds thicken and rain showers likely develop in the mid to late afternoon. Expect highs in the low-mid 60s on Sunday. Showers, drizzle, and mist continue Sunday night. A rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out late at night or early Monday.
The best chance of moderate/heavy rain on Monday is in the morning. There will likely be a midday lull before scattered showers in the afternoon. It looks mild with temps in the 50s in the morning and 60s in the afternoon. If the sun breaks through at all the temperature could reach 70.
Dry weather is in the forecast for the middle of next week. It will turn cooler on Wednesday with highs in the 50s. Both Tuesday and Thursday will likely reach the low 60s. It may get warmer inland on Thursday.
I mentioned an active mid-April weather pattern in the last update, and I still think that will be the case. Right now, it looks like next weekend starts and ends with rain, too. Showers are possible Friday night and again late Sunday into Monday. At this point, it looks like there will be well above normal precipitation in Southern New England over the next 10 days.
