A fast-moving storm brushes by Southeastern New England with rain and gusty winds for most coastal RI and SE MA Tuesday night. There may be a bit of snow on the northwest edge of the storm in the hills of NE CT and NW RI as well as Worcester County. It looks like a coating or no accumulation based on the latest information, and anything that does stick will be gone by 8-9 a.m. Wednesday with temps staying above freezing overnight and rising quickly Wednesday morning.
The rain may be heavy at times on Cape Cod and the islands. Tuesday night. There will be little, if any, rain in western CT. You can expect 0.25-0.5″ between New Haven and Providence. The strongest winds with the storm will stay well offshore. Expect 20-30 mph gusts near the coast of RI and Buzzards Bay, and 30-40 mph for Cape Cod. Elsewhere, the wind will not be an issue at all.
While Wednesday may start with rain/snow and raw conditions around sunrise, it will change very quickly. Precipitation moves out of RI and SE MA from west to east between 8-10 a.m., and it will end by 6 a.m. in CT. The temperature will soar through the 40s and 50s by midday, and may reach the low 60s with a gusty breeze Wednesday afternoon under partly sunny skies.
Thursday into Friday will be dry and gradually colder. Expect highs near 50 with a gusty breeze on Thursday. There will be a blend of clouds and sun. Clouds thicken on Friday with temps stuck in the 40s. Friday night looks raw and rainy. The good news is the storm will likely sweep out of here early Saturday, and it may be a nice/mild day. Temps could jump into the 60s again. A cooler breeze may be keep the coast in the 50s on Sunday, but, overall, it looks decent. Expect a seasonably mild start to next week with more showers possible in the midweek.
