April is in the books as one of the most consistently rainy months on record in Southern New England. It rained for 21 of the 30 days in Providence, Hartford, Boston and Worcester. Unfortunately, the first day of May also featured a few showers, and there’s more of that to come in the first 10 days of the month.
A few showers are possible Thursday and Friday, but neither day looks particularly rainy. Temperatures are tricky because if the sun breaks through at this time of the year, it can warm up in a hurry. I expect 50s both Thursday and Friday with clouds hanging tough. The best bet for something warmer is Thursday afternoon in Connecticut.
Showers will move in from west to east on Friday afternoon and evening. That disturbance may move through by early Saturday leaving a mainly dry start to the weekend. It’s very tough to time out these disturbances, but I would earmark Saturday as the better day to get stuff done outside. If clouds break, it could get to the mid-upper 60s.
A storm system approaching sometime Saturday night or Sunday threatens to bring another round of rain to Southern New England. Right now, it looks like a dreary Sunday with showers and temps near 50°. Thankfully, there are still a few days for that forecast to change a bit.
The beginning of next week should be ok, and a bit warmer. Highs in the 60s are likely Monday-Wednesday. It may get unsettled again by late in the workweek and into the second weekend of May. Here’s hoping we can get a dry day for Mom next Sunday!
