June 5 – Nice weekend ahead; Unsettled next week

Showers and thunderstorms are possible Wednesday night and Thursday in Southern New England. The rain will be hit and miss and some towns could get 0.5-1″ rain in a thunderstorms while other areas get very little rain. The pop-up shower and storm threat continues during the day on Thursday, ending late in the afternoon. It will be a warm and muggy day with highs in the 70s coast to low 80s inland.

Fair weather this weekend

High pressure nudges south out of Canada and provides Southern New England with great weather for the upcoming weekend. Look for partly cloudy skies on Friday with lowering humidity and highs in the 70s.

The weather will be pleasant Saturday and Sunday. Both days will feature highs inland near 80 and in the 70s at the coast. A sea breeze will develop on Saturday, and Sunday will feature a south-southeast breeze all day. Lows will be in the 50s both nights. You should be able to get away without air conditioning this weekend. It will not be muggy.

Soaking rain is possible late Monday into Tuesday

Two storms possible next week

A slow-moving storm system will head into the Northeast early next week. Dry weather may hang on for most of Monday before rain arrives late in the day and showers continue overnight into Tuesday. It’s early, but this storm has the potential to bring steady rain. It will be muggy with temps in the 60s at night and low 70s during the day.

A second storm moves into the Northeast late next week

There will likely be a break in the midweek before another storm system moves near New England late next workweek. Showers are possible in the Friday – Saturday time frame.

Euro model keeps it relatively cool in most of the Eastern U.S. this June

As I have mentioned before, the odds of 90 degree heat before summer begins are pretty low in the Northeast this year. The pattern is not favorable for hot/humid weather, and it looks like the month as a whole may be slightly cool compared to normal.
